Hug and Be Hugged!Did you realize that January 21 is National Hugging Day?
Well, we are happy to report that it is and St. Pete will be getting all hugged up to celebrate our strong sense of community.
Our board member, Sheri Kendrick, has been waiting for months to see this event off the ground, and finally, it is time.
Keep Saint Petersburg Local is hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Huggers will be dotted along Beach Drive and Central Avenue as well as at the Saturday Morning Market, adorned in Keep Saint Petersburg Local t-shirts and holding Free Hugs signs.
All huggers are welcome! Even Mayor Bill Foster is going to be offering free hugs.
WANT TO BE A HUGGER???? You know you do! We'd love to have you on board. This is definitely a more-the-merrier event.

STEP THREE (OPTIONAL): Purchase a Keep Saint Petersburg Local T-Shirt to wear on the day of the event. Purchasing a T-Shirt is not required but know that they are super freaking groovy and we are offering them at a seriously discounted "hugger" rate (See it pays to hug). Our t-shirts normally sell for $20 but they are only $10 for our volunteer huggers. T-Shirts will be available for pick up Thursday, Jan. 19, Friday, Jan. 20 and the day of the event, Jan. 21, at Enchanted Forest Photography (529 Central Avenue).

Huggers can either create their own sign OR use a sign provided by KSPL. ALL FIRST SHIFT HUGGERS WILL NEED TO MEET AT ENCHANTED FOREST PHOTOGRAPHY (529 Central Avenue) AT 9:30 a.m. THE DAY OF THE EVENT TO PICK UP THE FREE HUGS SIGN FOR YOUR STATION, AND TO GET IN A GROUP SHOT WITH THE MAYOR.
